Projectweek Public Space

Multidisciplinary and co-creative work in and around the Neermeersen

During an intensive project week at the end of March, we head to the Neermeersen, a high-rise district between the Watersportbaan and the Leie.

Several makers connected to CAMPUSatelier, de Koer, ConstructLab and the Stadsatelier of Kunstencentrum VIERNULVIER will work there in and with the local public space. They will do so together with a group of students from various courses in the arts, social work and architecture.

The group will work multidisciplinary (visual, construction, writing, playing…) and co-creative (in exchange with each other, the public space and the people they meet there). At the end of the week, they share the festive result with the public: a collective intervention on location in the neighbourhood.

The operating base for this project week is the vacant Arrival Tower of the Watersportbaan (which will be demolished later this year). From here, we work in smaller multidisciplinary teams in various outdoor locations. We meet local residents, get to know hidden sides of the neighbourhood and collaborate with inspiring makers. We work towards an exhibition / mixed media installation in the tower and a public walk with live performances and visual work on location. This is part of the programme of the Koer and Arts Centre VIERNULVIER.

This project week is particularly interesting for makers, builders, players or musicians who want to work with a specific socio-spatial urban context and who can commit to working together for a full week.

This project week is organised in collaboration with various colleges: KASK School of Arts Ghent, Arteveldehogeschool Social Work, KU Leuven / LUCA Architecture and the Brussels art academy Arba ESA. Involved makers include Maarten Jolie, Leontien Allemeersch, Bert Villa, Jorik De Wilde, Cédric Noël, Simon Allemeersch, Eline Harmse, Joram Kunde, Andy Sarfo, Marieke De Munck, Elly Van Eeghem, a.o.

With support from CAMPUSatelier, de Koer, Kunstencentrum VIERNULVIER and Nomadic School of Arts Ghent.
