Reforming/rethinking Textiles Shows Textiles

Involving an external curator provided a refreshing perspective and expertise. Starting from “dialogue” made the students throughout the three days much more likely to spontaneously enlist each other’s help, ask for feedback, collaborate….

During the Textiles Shows Textiles, we will engage with graduating masters and bachelors textile design to rethink and deform the annual “try out show moment”.

Based on hands on experiments, we will individually and collectively work and reflected around “learning to present, exhibit and communicate” textile work in a spatial context. The masterclass will take place from 16 to 20 January 2023 in the Black Hall. Throughout this week, students will also activate their work at various locations on- and off-campus to activate their work.

Alumnus Minne De Meyer Engelbeen who recently graduated within the postgraduate Curatorial Studies will work with the textile design mentors to guide this project.
