The Department of Culture, Youth and Media is committed to connecting the professional arts field with stakeholders from the (public and private) commissioning context and (semi-)public space by initiating, stimulating and coordinating a knowledge network through Platform Kunst in Opdracht. Through policy development, consultancy, knowledge exchange, practice enhancement, reflection, research and exemplary projects, the aim is to make visible and strengthen the policy and practice of Kunst in Opdracht in the public space, thus working towards the further development of an optimal support and policy framework.

With the Platform Art in Commission, the accumulated knowledge and expertise of the former Art Cell of the Team Flemish Master Builder, since January 1, 2016 housed at the Department of Culture Youth and Media, will be used for a relaunch as a national knowledge center for Art in Commission.

The Platform Kunst in Opdracht connects all actors involved in the network of Kunst in Opdracht in the (semi-)public space. The coordination of the Platform Kunst in Opdracht is in the hands of Katrien Laenen.

Within the framework of the Flemish Resilience relaunch plan, the Minister of Culture is launching a project call “Incentive Instrument Art in Commission” to enable the realization of quality art projects in the public space.
